They’re the same thing as a regular HP Mini 1000 line (I do believe it’s the HP Mini 1135NR if I remember correctly).
The model that’s being offered by Verizon is cheap initially, yes, but you have to pay for a monthly data plan that is nearly $60. It’s going to cost you over $1500 for the two year contract for the laptop, plus the cost of the laptop. At that cost you can get an amazing laptop, and a whole lot more.
I do think the HP Mini line is a good laptop line, but not if you want a regular laptop. There’s a reason it’s called the mini.
To buy one, I would think that you could figure out that you could get it at a Verizon store, or even possibly online from Verizon. I certainly don’t recommend it though. You only have to pay about $200 for the laptop if you get it through Verizon, but the total cost ends up somewhere around $1700. The regular price of the laptop is about $350. You’re paying over $1300 more for the laptop if you buy it through Verizon.
This Verizon Notebook is not a good deal at all. It only works with Verizon service and their plans are way too expensive and they don’t offer an unlimmited plan.
Also,
The Verizon notebook boasts 3G access on the Verizon network. The problem with that is…. Verizon is trailing behind other companies like Sprint, Clear and many others who are already rolling out their 4G networks worldwide which offers higher speeds and wider coverage areas.
The Verizon Mini is only $199 if you sign a 2 year service contract.
Without the 2 year agreement, the notebook costs $599 !
Acer has a much better machine, without the limitations.
