<a href="http://www.verizonmininotebook.com">Verizon Mini Notebook</a>

Welcome to the netbook market! I've been using them for a couple years now. For home use, you want a netbook with at least a 10 inch screen due to size problems with the keyboard fitting into a smaller frame.

Asus is the only company you should ever consider for Netbooks; they started the netbook craze way back with their Surf netbook and they remain the best in the industry still because of battery life, multi-touch touchpads, and many other things.

As far as which kind though, I always suggest two different models: the 1000H and the 1000HE. My personal vote if you're willing to spend $400 is the 1000HE, with the 1000H coming in at about $300 if you're willing to sacrifice 2 hours of battery life, a bit of processor speed, and a fancy Macbook-like keyboard.

1000HE here:

There are many different models, so you might just want to check them all out here:

-------

I've also used the HP, Dell, Acer, and MSI netbooks, and they all have under 4 hours of battery life (unless you pay more for a bulky battery that sticks out the back), don't have a multi-touch touchpad, and don't support Wireless N. Some of them also have the mouse buttons on the left and right of the touchpad... terrible and un-ergonomic to use. Dell also removes some of the keyboard keys from their smaller models completely, which makes it a pain to use them.

Most net books use the 1.8ghz Intel atom processor. They are not made for speed only for battery life and that should be your deciding factor. Sense you’re looking at a net book there all basically the same, though I would look for one that is using Nvidia ION technology there much faster and longer lasting.

Asus is the leading manufacture in Netbook with the Eee system and should be the brand you buy.
